The 2014 Care Act requires care professionals to address the care and support needs of LGBTQ+ people by tailoring services to their individual needs. But the Care Quality Commission reports limited evidence of care services proactively engaging with LGBTQ+ people and as a result CQC inspectors now routinely raise their concerns in Care Quality Inspections. Led by the care managers and care trainers who designed Pride in Care, the care sector LGBTQ+ quality standard, this masterclass identifies how very different life histories impact on the care needs of this visibly growing population and provides a toolkit of resources to make practical change achievable in care homes and domiciliary care services.
