The adult social care workforce currently faces an enormity of pressures. Recent initiatives to improve workforce conditions have not gone far enough nor have they reprimanded the pressures at hand. Does England now need to follow both Scotland and Wales and introduce the professional registration of adult social care staff and how far would this take us to realising a sustainable workforce? We all know change is needed to professionalise the workforce but what that change is and what it will look like requires further investigation.
