‘Share for Better Care Week’ - sharing feedback to drive improvement in care quality
)
Share for Better Care Week is a national initiative taking place from 24 February – 1 March 2025, and is aimed at encouraging individuals across the UK to share feedback from their experiences with health and social care services. Organised by the CQC and Healthwatch England, this campaign looks to amplify patient voices and utilise them better to drive improvements in care quality. We know from many other pioneer data collection projects, such as VIVALDI Social Care, and the Carer Wellbeing Report, the importance of harnessing data and utilising it to better the lives of those in care.
Why is this so important?
Collecting and utilising public feedback is instrumental in helping health and social care services identify areas of success and pinpoint opportunities for improvement. Despite its significance, statistics reveal that 60% of people have never provided feedback on their care experiences. By sharing this information, you can contribute to a collective effort to enhance the quality of care for everyone.
How to get involved
Participating in Share for Better Care Week is simple. You could:
· Sharing feedback: Encourage the people you provide care for to dedicate just a few minutes of their time to sharing feedback on their experiences with social care services. All these insights, whether positive or negative, are valuable.
· Spreading the word: Motivate friends, family, and community members to share their care experiences. Collective feedback from diverse groups ensures a comprehensive understanding of the current state of care services.
· Take a minute or two: Transform everyday moments, like waiting for the bus or making a cup of tea, into opportunities to provide feedback. Even brief comments can significantly impact service evaluations and lead to vast improvements.
Support from partner organisations
The campaign is supported by several organisations dedicated to promoting equitable and top-quality care, including:
· The Race Equality Foundation
· National Dignity Council
· Royal Association for Deaf people
· National Voices
· The Challenging Behaviour Foundation
· The Patients Association
· VoiceAbility
· Disability Rights UK
These collaborations highlight the campaign's commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that feedback is gathered from all segments of the population, especially those from communities that are often underrepresented.
Share for Better Care Week is an incredibly important opportunity for individuals to play an active role in shaping the future of health and social care services in the UK. By encouraging people receiving care to share their feedback, you can help to create a more responsive and effective care system for all.
