Preparing for International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day, on March 8th, is a global opportunity to celebrate the extensive achievements of women across the globe. It began in 1911 with over a million people joining to celebrate the cause and has grown extensively ever since.
This year’s campaign theme for 2024 is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ with the aim to inspire not only others in their understanding of the value of women’s inclusion but also women themselves to be included and develop a sense of belonging, empowerment, and relevance.
In the adult social care sector, over 85% of the workforce is female. International Women’s Day presents us with the perfect opportunity to highlight and promote the passion, dedication, and skill of the women that play a part in providing daily life-changing care to vulnerable people.
Join the movement and prepare to celebrate the women in your workplace on 8th March by planning something special. Visit the International Women’s Day website to access free resources and event planning ideas: https://www.internationalwomensday.com/
We also invited Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care to share the importance of their organisation and the empowering values that they promote.
“On March 8th, WAGS will join colleagues within our sector to recognise and celebrate the power of female leadership on International Women’s Day. There are times when being a Woman Achieving Greatness in Social Care can be lonely. The WAGS is a movement that brings together women leaders to share their experiences, support each other and generally enjoy the company of friends and colleagues within the sector. Whether meeting for lunch, getting together formally in focused development groups or enjoying the experience of winning an award at the WAGS gala night - the best party in town - we are all in this together, and together we are fabulous! These amazing women are also taking responsibility to recognise, encourage and celebrate the next generation of WAGS. Women are the backbone of care and these luna wolves*, have the ability and drive to create a dynamic future for the health and social care landscape.”
*The luna wolf is the alpha female within a wolf pack. It is more common for the rest of the pack to follow the luna wolf instead of the male, who are mostly absent and wander alone.
Come along to the Business Theatre on Day 1 at 16:15pm to see WAGS on stage presenting their own session: ‘The Stars to Shape the Future’.
Care Show London shared the values that International Women’s Day embodies and is the perfect event to come along and network with fellow females in social care and celebrate the incredible passion, hard work and resilience that goes on within the sector.
