Juliet Davies, Editor of Inclusive Design Magazine, is very much looking forward to the Care Show at ExCeL in April.
“I’m always really impressed with the variety of companies and services represented there,” she said.
Inclusive Design Magazine is the only print and digital magazine devoted entirely to accessibility and inclusive design in the built environment that directly targets architects, interior designers, property managers, construction companies, occupational therapists, and care home owners and managers.
“When the magazine first launched we thought it would be mainly architects and interior designers we would attract, but many of the initial subscriptions came in from occupational therapists and care home owners and managers,” she said. “I had rather underestimated the huge input that OTs and the care sector have in specifying elements that until then I had considered ‘built environment’ and the responsibility of architects and developers.”
The magazine is editorially-led and has independent and exclusive features such as a round-table forum where a panel of experts discuss a given topic, a diary-style ‘Week in the Life’ featuring a variety of people who work within the sector, and ‘open-mic’ opinion pieces on every aspect of the built environment, as well as informative articles on business, planning, finance, and law.
The current Spring 2025 issue features Kerry Southern-Reason of The Care Home Interiors Company in Week in the Life, whilst in the Forum specialist housing occupational therapists discuss the design of homes and adaptations, and the impact housing has on every aspect of life.
“I’m hoping to meet a lot of people at the Care Show in April who will be able to share their expertise with our readers,” Juliet added. “Our aim is to highlight good design, promote fresh ideas, share best practice, and provide a great read - while improving accessibility in the built environment.”
