David Baddiel to complete Care Show London 2025 speaker line-up with powerful fireside chat on dementia
)
Care Show London 2025 is thrilled to announce that renowned comedian, author, and Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador David Baddiel has been added to this year’s speaker line up. David will take part in a highly anticipated fireside chat titled ‘My Dad and Dementia: A Fireside Chat with David Baddiel’ at 12:30 pm on Thursday 1 May in the Keynote Theatre. He will be joined by Kate Lee, CEO of Alzheimer’s Society, for what promises to be an honest, heartfelt, and thought-provoking conversation about his personal experience with dementia. The session is proudly supported by Alzheimer’s Society.
David Baddiel is one of the UK’s most celebrated comedians and writers. He shot to fame in the early 1990s, becoming a household name through hit TV shows The Mary Whitehouse Experience and Newman and Baddiel in Pieces. In 1992, he made history by performing with Rob Newman at Wembley Arena in the UK’s first-ever arena comedy show – a moment credited with transforming comedy into “The New Rock’n’Roll.” David later partnered with Frank Skinner to create Fantasy Football and Baddiel & Skinner Unplanned, and alongside The Lightning Seeds, they wrote the iconic football anthem Three Lions.
Beyond comedy, David has published ten hugely successful children’s books, four critically acclaimed adult novels, and two thought-provoking non-fiction polemics. His writing blends sharp humour with insightful social commentary, making him one of the most versatile and influential voices in British entertainment.
David’s connection to dementia is deeply personal. His father, Colin, lived with Pick’s Disease for several years before passing away in January 2022. Colin’s dementia inspired David’s stage show My Family: Not the Sitcom, the Channel 4 documentary The Trouble with Dad, and most recently, My Family: The Memoir, published in July 2024. Through humour and candour, David explores the emotional and complex reality of caring for a loved one with dementia.
As an Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, David is passionate about using comedy to break down the stigma surrounding dementia. His session at Care Show London 2025 will provide a unique blend of humour, personal insight, and valuable takeaways for those working in the care sector and those affected by dementia.
David Baddiel’s fireside chat marks the grand finale of an already impressive speaker line-up, promising to leave attendees inspired and moved. Don’t miss this chance to hear David’s powerful story and his call to unite against dementia, so no one has to face it alone.
Care Show London 2025 is anticipated to be the biggest celebration of the care sector in the capital for the second year in a row! It has proved to be a platform for learning, networking, and inspiration. Join us for what promises to be a landmark moment with David Baddiel at the helm.
