Professor Jane Seale
Professor of Education,
Open University
Jane’s teaching and research interests lie at the intersections between disability, technology and inclusion. Her work focuses in particular on the role that technologies play in the lives of people with learning disabilities. During the pandemic, Jane examined how adults with learning disabilities were being supported to stay connected during lockdown. The results of her research informed the DCMS funded Digital Lifeline project which funded the provision of tablets, data and training to 5,000 adults with learning disabilities. Jane has also worked with key learning disability organisations to develop a toolkit to empower support workers in social care and other contexts to support the digital inclusion of adults with learning disabilities.
