Stefan Kallee

Deputy Director of Adult Social Care, Care Quality Commission
I joined CQC in 2017 and most recently, after being an Adult Social Care inspection manager in in the North West, I have been inspection manager and lead for the supported living improvement coalition. This has been a CQC convened and facilitated collaborative, and co-produced improvement initiative, involving people with lived experience, family members and carers, providers and many different colleagues across health, social care and beyond. I am excited to soon be one of CQC’s senior specialists for people with a learning disability and autistic people. Before I came to CQC I specialised in the care and support of autistic people, some of who also had a learning disability or mental ill health. I have had the opportunity to work in partnership with many wonderful, fantastic and inspiring people, and I feel privileged that they invited me into their lives. I continue to be inspired in my lifelong learning about how people communicate, think and experience the world in their own, unique ways. My determination remains to listen to and understand people, their preferences, ambitions and dreams, experience of care and care pathways, and to make a difference, by driving high-quality person-centred care and proactive partnership working that values and respects people as equals, and promotes people’s quality of life.
